When we need to purchase a power transformer, it is not as easy as buying a car or cell phone. Power transformers have many technical details that need to be confirmed before making the order, the basic technical information that you need to know first is the high voltage (input voltage), low voltage (output voltage), and rated capacity (kVA).

 

The easiest way to make sure all the technical details are correct is to hire a professional electrical engineer, but if you are planning your own project like a BTC mining farm, you might have to make the preliminary selection first. In this case, you need to calculate the rated capacity by yourself first.

 

First, you must know the electric power (KW / MW) of your electrical equipment. The rated capacity of the power transformer is kVA / MVA. KW is on the same level as kVA, and MW is on the same level as MVA. We should know that 1000kW is 1MW, and 1000kVA is 1MW.

Now we can move on to the calculation part. The formula is MW÷0.8=MVA, KW÷0.8=kVA.

 

For example, now you have a bitcoin mining farm that needs 10MW of electric power, 10MW=10,000kVA. 10,000kVA÷0.8=12,500kVA. This means the bitcoin mining farm needs power transformers that can handle 12,500kVA electric power.

Customer can share their required design with our engineer teams, such as the bushing design, top-mounted bushings or sidewall bushings can be designed with no problem. This type of transformer is usually used indoors, such as in shopping malls, basements, studies, etc. The biggest difference between pad mounted transformer and substation transformer is cast resin transformer without oil, good fireproof and explosion-proof performance. In the Canadian market. Daelim has CSA test report & certification for 3 units of 5MVA 44kV substation type power transformer, as your requirements. The difference between CSA and UL is that UL can be used on all the transformers including those in the listing range. The CSA certification needs to hire the CSA group people to come to the Daelim factory and inspect the tests every time. For example, if you did the CSA listed for a batch of transformers, the next time you order the same transformers, still need to pay for the CSA group to do the listing. Daelim has a good relationship and working experience with CSA China, you only need to pay the CSA testing fee and add around 2 weeks for the CSA testing, Daelim team will handle the CSA listing works in China.

Testing is the last but not least part of the power transformer production, it’ll make sure that the transformer will be shipped to the customer 100% perfect. Daelim will test every unit before shipping them to our customers based on the standard. Also after the factory test, our engineer team will offer the testing report to our customer, customers should confirm our test report with their engineer, then sign on our test report and send it back to us, so we will move on to the next step, pack up the transformers and ship to the customers.
